Event theme: Mahitahi – partnerships and collaboration.
The proposed theme of Hack Aotearoa 2023 is Mahitahi – partnerships and collaboration. Artificial Intelligence, digital health and data science are key enablers for transformations within health systems, organisations, and models of care – we aim to bring together people to develop a greater understanding of the respective fields, the opportunities to improve health outcomes and equity, showcase Māori and Pacific data and digital innovation, and learn collaboratively through a datathon event.
Plenary themes include:
- The health reforms: Ki te pae tawhiti – Data-driven flourishing and prioritising equity
- Health informatics on a national scale
- Māori Data and Digital Innovation – Data sovereignty and digital solutions
- Pacific data insights – epidemiology and research
- AI for Health: Augmenting Clinical Care
- COVID-19: Transformations in models of care through digital health
- Smarter health decisions with data science
- Future directions: Career opportunities and growing our AI and digital health workforce

DAY 1: Friday 17th March 2023 – Hack Aotearoa Conference Programme (Pullman Hotel)
A conference programme of plenary sessions including international faculty from MIT and local experts from across healthcare and data science speaking to the various applications of data science, digital health, and AI for healthcare
9:00AM – 4:30PM Conference programme (welcoming and plenary presentations)
5:00PM – 6:00PM Conference reception and overview of datathon and datathon teams announced
DAY 2: Saturday 18th March – Hack Aotearoa Datathon (University of Auckland Business School)

Conference Venue
Hack Aotearoa 2023 will be held at the Pullman Hotel on Friday, March 17th and the datathon event on Saturday, March 18th to Sunday, March 19th will be held at the Owen G Glenn Building at the University of Auckland Business School.
